The World Central Kitchen (WCK) has announced it has served more than one million fresh meals to families, emergency responders, volunteers and frontline workers in the wake of the 24 June earthquakes in Venezuela.

Teams from the non-profit organisation – founded back in 2010 – served their first meals to impacted communities just hours after the earthquakes. Today, its teams are operating a large-scale kitchen in Naiguatá, two community kitchens and a network of local restaurant partners serving families across La Guaira and Caracas.

Alongside daily meal service, WCK has supported local community kitchens with food supplies, infrastructure improvements, kitchen equipment and culinary training.

It has also strengthened its partnership with organisations Remar and Mensajeros de la Paz by donating bakery equipment that enables them to produce more than 6,000 loaves of bread each day. Through this collaboration, WCK has received 2,500 fresh loaves daily to accompany meals.

Last weekend, WCK celebrated Children’s Day in Venezuela by distributing boxes filled with snacks, treats, colouring activities and toys to children, alongside community celebrations featuring games, music and entertainment.

‘One million meals is more than a milestone—it represents thousands of acts of kindness from the people who made this response possible,’ said chef and WCK response director in Venezuela Olivier de Belleroche. ‘From local restaurants opening their kitchens, to volunteers serving meals, to community leaders helping us reach families, this response has been built by Venezuelans supporting one another. As communities recover, we’re proud to keep investing in the local kitchens and organisations that will keep nourishing their neighbours.’
