Black Geographers on studying geography at university

Francisca Rockey and Louis Smith-Lassey of Black Geographers share their experiences of studying geography

Francisca Rockey is currently a BSc Geography student at York St John University. Noticing that she was the only black girl on her course, and that this was often reflected at other universities, she set up Black Geographers, a community for black geographers to network and connect.

Louis Smith-Lassey studied BSc Geography  at the University of Liverpool and is now completing an MA in Urban Design and Planning at Southbank University.

Geographical editor Katie Burton caught up with Francisca and Louis to find out more about Black Geographers, what inspired them to study geography and where they hope it will take them.
