#WhyCoExist video competition
What we’re doing and why
At Co-Exist Projects, we passionately believe in our environmental responsibility to protect our oceans and all of the life they contain. Our mission is to raise awareness of the many issues our marine world faces, and to inspire new ocean ambassadors to spread this important message. Now, we’re offering you the opportunity to share which issues you’re most passionate about – with the chance to win a once in a lifetime trip.
So, Why Coexist? That’s what we’re looking for you to tell us, in a video no longer than 60 seconds. We want to hear why you believe we must co-exist with our oceans, which issues matter the most, and what you would like to see change to raise awareness in combating those problems. We’re not looking for professional-standard video production, just an honest, heartfelt message telling us ‘Why Coexist’.
Entries can be about any marine conservation issue you care about, a personal experience, or anything else marine-related you would like to raise awareness about. Your video can take the form of whatever you like, from a simple piece to camera, a voiceover, or something more creative if you have the skills.
We strongly believe that education plays a huge role in marine conservation, and we hope to pass the baton to new ocean ambassadors who will inspire change, challenge misconceptions and champion the cause to co-exist with our oceans.
What the winner can expect

By submitting your video, you’ll be in with the chance of winning an eight-day expedition in April 2023 to a remote Seychelles island with accommodation, food, expenses and flights all included! You’ll have guided tours of the islands accompanied by some of the leading scientists who take part in ongoing research like tagging sharks, turtles, and rays.
The trip will take you to D’Arros island and St Joseph Atoll, where you’ll experience first hand the valuable work done by leading marine conservationists, scientists and educators working with Co-exist projects and Save Our Seas Foundation. You’ll have the opportunity to learn about what they do, speak to them about whatever issues you would like to learn more about and, more importantly, what can be done to help.
During this amazing trip, you’ll learn to dive with the PADI Open Water Diver course, or, if you are already trained, you’ll take part in the Advanced Open Water Diver course.
Experience the beauty of the Indian ocean snorkelling along coral reefs, with turtles and manta rays. Other activities include surfing, cycling, camping on a remote beach, stand up paddle boarding and canoeing.
For the chance to win, simply upload your video to Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #whycoexist and make sure to follow @coexistprojects for competition news and updates.
The deadline for competition entries is 28 February 2023.
