Action Against Hunger’s Boolo Xeex Xibon Project is helping local Senegalese communities to thrive
In northern Senegal, child malnutrition has reached emergency levels. But amid the crisis, communities are leading their own way forward.
Action Against Hunger has released a new short film, which follows a powerful, locally driven initiative known as the Boolo Xeex Xibon Project, which aims to provide nutrition, financial support, and training across four rural villages in the Louga region.
Told through the voices of those at the heart of it, including shopkeepers, chicken farmers, hairdressers, and health workers, the film reveals how people are not only tackling acute hunger but laying the foundations for long-term change.
At its core, the project is not a story of aid delivered from above, but one of hope, dignity, and resilience. Above all, it highlights what becomes possible when people are given the tools to shape their own future.
Action Against Hunger has submitted its short film to the 2025 Better World Video Awards. You can find out more about the awards and how you could win a 7-night stay in Thailand or a £3,000 advertising package with Geographical magazine here.
