We have free tickets for the first 50 Geographical readers to the 7th annual Oman Natural Heritage Lecture at the Royal Geographical Society.
Mangroves are vitally important ecosystems that are widely acknowledged as critical habitats for a range of coastal species. In Oman, as in other regions of the world, mangrove forests are confronted with a variety of potential dangers. However, Omani scientists have taken significant measures to safeguard these coastal ecosystems, which involve designating protected areas for ecological conservation and working on the rehabilitation and management of mangrove forests.
This year’s Oman Natural Heritage Lecture, an annual event dedicated to showcasing the country’s natural heritage, will focus on the efforts made to preserve these crucial habitats. The event will be led by Aziza Al Adhoobi, head of wetland management at Oman’s Environment Authority, and Badar Al Bulushi, a specialist in mangrove forest conservation.
The lecture takes place from 6:45pm – 8:30pm on 6 December 2023 at the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG), London. Tickets are £15 for standard entry, £9 for RGS and BOS members, and £5 for students (+booking fee).
More information can be found on the British Omani Society website.
