A project in Calais and Dunkirk links volunteers with refugees in need of help
The refugee crisis is a major humanitarian issue, one that in recent years has come to a head in Calais, France where people have been documented living in very poor conditions. RefYouMe is a volunteering and fundraising community group supporting refugees in Calais and Dunkirk. Their mission is to make it easy for people to donate their time to the people who need it most.
Often people are put off from volunteering, not sure if a short period of time is enough. This film follows one woman’s volunteering experience to show that even a ‘little’ goes a long way. Using footage from Calais it demonstrates why people are in this situation – violence, war, crisis – and that they deserve help. It seeks to show that even small acts of kindness, like a haircut or a cup of tea, can make all the difference.
