Geographical February 2023

24 January 2023
< 1 minute

February 2023

In the February issue of Geographical, we investigate the environmental damage that’s being caused by the war in Ukraine and the threat it poses citizens, both as they try to survive the conflict and when they return to their former lives once it’s over. Catherine Early reports on the Ukrainian government’s push to get the issue on the agenda and in a bid to secure reparations.

Elsewhere in the magazine, Anna Pozzi reports from Iraqi Kurdistan, where hundreds of thousands of refugees are trapped in camps for years on end, often without either documents or future prospects; Delhi-based freelance reporter Ritwika Mitra travels to West Bengal to report on the growing campaign by women against domestic violence linked to alcohol abuse; and Roman Goergen meets the scientists who have successfully cracked the mystery of how to cultivate the highly-prized white truffle.
