University of Malta – International Collaborative Programmes

Tucked away in the middle of the Mediterranean lies the picturesque small island of Malta. Just like the country itself, the University of Malta has a rich and fascinating history. Located in the capital city of Valletta, the University of Malta’s international graduate school is housed within the Old University Building, which dates back to the University’s establishment in 1592. This Valletta campus now accommodates the University of Malta’s International Collaborative Programmes, which provide a unique opportunity for students to gain double degrees from both this prestigious institution and prominent universities in the United States. In addition, the University offers a wide spectrum of undergraduate and postgraduate courses at its other two campuses.

The Master’s programme in Environmental Management and Sustainability is offered jointly by the University of Malta’s Institute of Earth Systems and the Department of Integrated Science and Technology at James Madison University (Virgina, USA). It is an accelerated 12-month degree course, with graduating students receiving a Master of Science degree from both universities. Expert faculty from the two institutions are involved in all teaching and instruction, demonstrating the value of different international viewpoints. Intercultural awareness and deepened self-confidence grow from working with students and faculty from around the world.

maremmaThe educational benefits of the programme are not just limited to the classroom. As a small island state, Malta is an ideal living laboratory for the study and practice of sustainability. The various field experiences that are built into the programme, both in Malta and in neighbouring Italy, provide a hands-on feel for both sustainable technologies and resource conservation. The programme also offers a high degree of customization, allowing students to build a coherent portfolio of expertise and skills to significantly enhance their employment prospects.

What are you waiting for? Come and be inspired on our beautiful island.
